The options are overwhelming.
When things are overwhelming we need to take a giant step back and use a simple heuristic like, "I send 5 emails a week."
It doesn’t need to be more complicated than that (to start).
This is a practical thought process that gets you taking action.
When it comes to types of emails to send and their purpose…
For my Email CopyHour course we’re going to look at emails as having these 5 purposes ONLY.
And you really could just use the first 3 to get started:
- The email will discuss the sale % and/or the deal that is expiring soon.
- The email will tell a simple story that ultimately sells your product, or the idea that makes your product attractive.
- The email will riff on a "secret breakthrough discovery" and its benefits.
- The email will be a mini sales letter that has a short lead, short sales argument, an offer description, and a minimal close.
- The email will be part of a mini launch sequence and that email is either the lead, 1 sales argument, the offer, or 1 part of the close.
And that’s it. That’s the lens in which we’ll view each email example we study and templatize.
