The email strategy I’ll use after buying a list

This week we’re going over why and how I’m "buying" Ning Li’s copywriting coaching & courses business.

Ning is/was one of the biggest and best copywriting coaches in the business. So when he announced his retirement and said that he was going to simply delete all of his copywriting courses and email list I reached out asking how I could help.

The result? I’m going to take over his business and in this series of emails I’m showing you some of the behind-the-scenes of what that looks like.

My hope is that you get some out-of-the-box ideas for list building, marketing strategies or find some inspiration to get out there and put together win-win business deals.

Email List-Buying Lesson #3: You Can Re-Use Emails

All this week I’ve been talking about how I’m going to keep this business transfer as simple as possible.

Here’s what that looks like in practice and how I’m emailing Ning’s list and the segment of my list that’s expressed interest in freelancing copywriting as a career.

What I’m Emailing During Ning’s Retirement Sale

Ning is considered to be one of the best copywriters and offer creators in the game today.

So instead of writing a brand new sequence of emails to send to his list and to mine, I’m simply going to re-use the same emails Ning wrote to his list in the past.

It’s interesting to me – mainly because I used to think this way too – a lot of marketers and copywriters don’t seem to understand that emails are re-usable.

A lot of marketers and copywriters, especially those that send emails daily, seem to think re-using a good email is lazy or against the rules.

I didn’t realize I was running this same script in my head until I was on the opposite side of this as a consumer.

There’s a marketer whose email copy I love and after being on his list for several years, I’m starting to see the same sequences of emails.

At first I scoffed, "He didn’t even write a new one!?"

Then, I found myself reading the email again, approaching it with the new mindset a little time brings to the equation, and really appreciated the reminder.

I realized that as a consumer, I don’t care AT ALL if I’m seeing an email I’ve seen previously – as long as it’s good and I learn something or get inspired. I re-listen to podcasts and re-watch YouTube videos all the time. Good content is good content no matter the medium.

Plus, quite obviously, with time there are new people who join a list and they might not have seen your best stuff.

Sending emails that Ning already wrote cuts down on a lot of work and reduces the mental load of the Retirement Sale.

Now, after the sale ends next Friday, I’m going to start sending Ning’s list my best emails in hopes that I can woo them over to me and CopyHour.

So what will those emails look like?

I’ll show you inside of one of my most popular courses. Next week I’ll be opening up Email CopyHour – my course teaching you how to write emails that power 6-, 7-, and 8-figure email lists — by handwriting proven email formulas from 7-, 8-, and 9-figure businesses.

If you want to master email copywriting and/or extract more money out of your existing list asset, then Email CopyHour is the course you’ve been searching for.

I’ll start sending over all the details next week.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

P.S. If you’re interested in freelance copywriting and getting clients, specifically, then Ning’s products are exactly what you need.

Why do I say that, and why is Ning retiring?

Ning is making so much as a copywriter for Paleohacks that it makes more sense for him to close the coaching side of his business completely (and I can seamlessly integrate his business into mine, so I’ve taken over).

Here’s what Ning said about his retirement, "At this point, winning promos come to me very easily. I can write them in my sleep. I could spend 2 months coaching students, writing emails to my list, and running ‘Zero to 5K’… but if I write a winning sales letter (for Paleohacks), it pays me $10K – $20K+ in royalties per month minimum… passively… for the next 2-3 years. If I just stack those, it’s much bigger leverage. More money, less work basically."

Want to learn to write sales copy and create a career that has the same potential?

If so, I’m making Ning’s most popular course, "Zero to $5k", available to purchase for the final time (maybe ever). "Zero to $5k" helps you write converting copy, get clients, and clear all mindset issues that might be holding you back.
